Creation: Categories PHP-MySQL, Maps and Photos Tags langues URL http://www.gouillou.com/art.php/en/cat70/art28/google-maps-google-earth.html
You can know get a URL opening a placemark in Google Earth on the same format as an URL opening a placemark in Google.
Disclaimer: it is for the moment an unlimited free service (I just add in the KML folder the placemark of a penthouse for sale in Menton with a link to www.menton-penthouse.com: have a look, this website contains already 140 points of the French Riviera, the Principality of Monaco and the Liguria and photos). However, if it appears that the bandwith cost is too high, I'll change the principle.
How to use it: just use "Conversion from Google Maps URL to Google Earth" and select in #5 if you want just the displaying of the URL, or to open directly Google Earth.
#1: In Google Maps: Double-left-click inside the map/satellite view to center where you want and generate the correct link (Rem: to forget this #1 may drive you to the west coast of Africa...).
#2: In Google Maps: Copy the link behind "Link to this page" (top right of the screen)
#1: Copy (via right click) a placemark in Google Earth : KML (Keyhole) and KMZ (Google Earth) formats are both accepted
#2: Paste it in the following form :
Level of zoom is not automatic
GE -> GM: There is no precise distinction of what can be seen in Google Maps : if you try with a placemarks outside the USA or UK, you will get the message from Google Maps "We're sorry...". Try another level of zoom in Google Maps.
KML Path Generator by Ink_Polaroid: Convert a folder in a sorted path
Smooth Path by Meils: "takes the path you give him to chew on, performs a cubic interpolation between the successive points in it and spits out a fresh kml-file with the result."
Random Path by Meils: "extracts the coordinates from your placemark and generates a random path around it."
The website is not finished yet, but it contains already 140 points of the French Riviera, the Principality of Monaco and the Liguria. The links to the photos and a more complete KML file (for Google Earth) will be added early september.
